The first edition of the @worldlivingsoilsforum, hosted by Moët Hennessy, is officially underway in Arles-en-Provence. The Forum brings together researchers, experts, public institutions, journalists, trade associations and companies for two days of conferences, roundtables, masterclass, and workshops. The day began with the first plenary session, Protecting the Soils, An Imperative for the Living, during which a panel of experts addressed the question: What are Living Soils and why are they important in our daily decision-making?
✅ Dr. Pascal Boivin, Professor, HEPIA, HES-SO Geneva: “One of the functions of soils is to support life on earth. Restoring biodiversity is the result of many other initiatives you have to take. It is important to follow the right roadmap.”

✅ Sandrine Sommer, Chief Sustainability Officer, Moët Hennessy: “Regenerating soils is at the heart of Moët Hennessy’s sustainability strategy. We push biodiversity everywhere, both macro and micro. Sharing knowledge is the key to going further and faster. “

✅ Ronald Vargas, Secretary of the Global Soil Partnership, Land and Water Officer, FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization): ”’Soil Doctors’ is a tool for farmers to become leaders in their communities, to detect problems in the soils and create solutions.”

✅ Dr. Kris Nichols, Ph.D/ Research Director – MyLand/Kiss the Ground: “We have decreased the diversity of microorganisms in our soils, but they are very resilient. By creating a favorable environment, they can grow and regenerate: if you build it, they will come!”
